PVTIME – Canadian solar mounting systems company Opsun has announced plans to establish its first US manufacturing facility in High Point, North Carolina, with an investment of $9.3 million. The move is aimed at tapping into the booming American solar market, particularly for tracking mounts, which have received strong government support.

Specialising in aluminium mounting solutions for commercial, industrial and residential PV projects – including rooftop, ground-mounted and carports – Opsun’s new facility will triple its operational space and expand its warehousing. The facility, its third worldwide, reflects the company’s commitment to North American manufacturing, with all components sourced locally.
President François Gilles-Gagno believes this factory will drive the company’s growth in the US. By partnering with North Carolina’s workforce and suppliers, Opsun will accelerate solar deployment nationwide, and this focus on domestic manufacturing underscores our commitment to high performance, locally manufactured systems.
The project will receive a $40,000 performance grant from the North Carolina Fund, which will be awarded based on meeting job creation and investment goals. While Nextracker leads the global market for tracking systems, US players such as GameChange Solar are also gaining ground.
Opsun’s expansion highlights the growing demand for solar infrastructure in the US, where political support and the growth of renewable energy are reshaping the industry. The plant will strengthen regional supply chains and position the company as a key player in North America’s clean energy transition.
