773.5MW! AIKO Lands ABC Module Supply Deal for South African Solar Parks

PVTIME – Chinese PV manufacturer AIKO has secured a significant module supply contract with Infinity Power, a renewable energy developer focused on Africa. AIKO will deliver high-performance ABC double-glass panels for three utility-scale solar installations across South Africa. This latest commercial success takes the total project volume delivered through their cross-African collaboration beyond 2GW, marking a significant milestone for the companies’ ambitions in the African market.

The ABC double-glass modules have been designed to withstand South Africa’s challenging operating conditions, which are characterised by intense solar irradiance and consistently high ambient temperatures. Such environmental stressors place heavy demands on photovoltaic hardware, but the product’s optimised temperature coefficient design helps to retain stable power output even under extreme field conditions, thereby lowering performance-related revenue risks for plant operators.

The 773.5MW supply agreement, covering three separate solar assets, represents AIKO’s first direct project engagement in South Africa, building on earlier deployments in other African territories. Infinity Power, one of Africa’s largest independent renewable energy companies, will integrate the ABC hardware as core generation equipment for its utility-grade solar portfolio.

Industry analysts point out that Africa’s booming utility solar segment favours robust, high-yield modules that are well-adapted to local climate profiles. By expanding its presence in South Africa, AIKO is strengthening its position in one of the continent’s most competitive solar markets, while Infinity Power is gaining access to advanced back-contact technology to increase overall plant energy yields. Further technical details on delivery timelines have not been disclosed in the public announcement.
