Sungrow Partners on Malmö’s Clean Energy Mobility Hub

PVTIME – Sungrow, a global leader in inverters and ESS, has joined forces with Parkering Malmö and Truxco Energy to launch a pioneering project. This initiative involves integrating solar power generation, intelligent battery storage and EV charging in order to transform a car park into a high-performance clean energy hub. This hub is designed to support the future of urban transportation. For the Mobilitetshuset Parkside project, also known as the Parkside Mobility Hub, Sungrow supplied its C&I ESS PowerStack and SG33CX inverters, delivering environmental performance and architectural value in an urban setting.

Tony Granholm, Sungrow’s Partner Success Manager for the Nordics, outlined the company’s mission to provide clean power in all environments, from large suburban solar parks to urban areas where space is limited. He noted that combining PowerStack with Truxco Energy’s AI-based energy management enables seamless solar energy storage on sunny days and ensures energy resilience during overcast or rainy periods.

Located in Malmö’s Hyllie district, the Parkside Mobility Hub serves as a scalable blueprint for sustainable mobility and decentralised energy production. It demonstrates how future urban infrastructure can integrate clean energy and smart mobility into a cohesive solution. The facility can accommodate 430 vehicles, over 200 of which are equipped for EV charging. It also features a panoramic rooftop staircase and an outdoor gym, delivering additional public value.

The hub incorporates climate-optimised construction and a façade integrated with PV glass, as well as local energy production. Designed to align with Malmö’s 2030 climate goals and LFM30’s high sustainability standards, it makes use of climate-smart materials such as timber, recycled steel, and low-carbon concrete. Almir Hodzic, CEO of Parkering Malmö, explained that the company views its car parks as integral to Malmö’s green transformation. They will function as local energy nodes that support the grid and supply renewable power. He identified access to affordable energy as a key challenge and emphasised the critical role of energy storage in ensuring properties are fit for the future.

At the core of the hub’s energy system are four Sungrow PowerStack units, which are intelligent, liquid-cooled ESS designed for commercial and industrial use. Designed to optimise solar energy utilisation and enhance real-time grid resilience, the system boasts a storage capacity of 916kWh. It also integrates seamlessly with high-efficiency inverters and AI-based energy management platforms to ensure reliable energy storage and distribution.

When paired with Sungrow’s robust SG33CX multi-MPPT string inverter, which offers maximum efficiency of 98.7%, smart management capabilities and compatibility with bi-facial modules, the system provides EV-ready infrastructure. This setup maximises solar energy utilisation while boosting grid resilience. Modi Nezami, Project Manager at Truxco Energy responsible for technical system integration, stated that the mobility hub exemplifies the integration of design, technology, and sustainability into a unified solution. He added that Sungrow’s intelligent system and Truxco’s AI-based solutions enable the early detection and response to potential deviations, ensuring safety and performance, as well as providing a visually appealing, fire-safe energy solution.

Sungrow is a leading company in the Nordic energy sector, offering innovative energy solutions that are specifically designed for the region’s unique climate and energy requirements. With dedicated local teams in Stockholm and Copenhagen, the company is well-placed to support numerous projects across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, and its commitment to sustainability and technological advancement has established it as a trusted partner.
