$7 Billion Solar Grant Programme Set to Be Terminated

PVTIME – Two sources familiar with the matter have told The New York Times that the Trump administration is preparing to end a $7 billion federal grant programme aimed at helping low- and middle-income households install solar panels on their homes.

They indicated that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is drafting termination letters for 60 non-profit organisations and state agencies that received funding through the ‘Solar for All’ initiative, and plans to send them by the end of the week.

If finalised, this would be another step in the Trump administration’s efforts to claw back billions of dollars in grants under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. It would also inevitably trigger legal challenges from grant recipients, many of whom have already begun related projects in Republican-led states.
