500MW! Heliene Launches New US Solar Plant, Boosts Capacity to 1.3GW

PVTIME – Canadian solar manufacturer Heliene has commissioned a 500MW module assembly plant in Rogers, Minnesota, thereby reinforcing its position in the US renewable energy market. The facility is the company’s third in Minnesota and, when combined with existing production lines in Mountain Iron — including a 300MW TOPCon-capable plant upgraded in 2023 and a 500MW site — it will deliver 1.3GW of annual US capacity.

Specialising in high-efficiency dual-glass crystalline silicon modules, Heliene prioritises the use of domestic materials through strategic partnerships. This year, Heliene joined forces with Suniva and Corning to establish an end-to-end US supply chain spanning from polysilicon to modules. Other initiatives include a deal with Origami Solar to supply steel frames and a five-year partnership with Solarcycle to recycle 4GW of photovoltaic glass. From April 2025 onwards, customers will have the option of choosing Origami’s US-made steel frames for Heliene’s 144/156 half-cell modules.

The expansion has secured $2.3 million in funding from Minnesota’s Investment Fund, Job Creation Fund and Job Skills Partnership, which will support the creation of over 220 new roles at the Rogers plant. This milestone aligns with US efforts to strengthen domestic clean energy supply chains, further establishing Heliene’s position at the forefront of the solar manufacturing renaissance.
