400MWh! Sungrow Secures Major Energy Storage Deal in Brazil with Roca Group

PVTIME – Sungrow has signed a significant agreement with Brazil’s leading energy company, the Roca Group. The agreement is set to be delivered in partnership with two of the Roca Group’s subsidiaries: MOBS Energy Storage and Electric Mobility, and TCCOM Power Trading.

Over the next three years, the collaboration will deploy 400MWh of energy storage systems across Brazil, with a total investment of around 500 million reais (equivalent to 710 million yuan) backing the project.

The project will deliver integrated solutions including energy arbitrage, electricity bill optimisation, backup power, and energy management to medium and large commercial and industrial enterprises. In addition to supplying the necessary equipment, the project will encompass end-to-end lifecycle services, including engineering design, system integration, commissioning, and ongoing operation and maintenance.

Over the next three years, the partners also plan to co-host technical training and market promotion activities, with the aim of boosting energy storage adoption and commercialisation across Brazil.

Sungrow already has a strong presence in Brazil, having provided advanced inverters and system performance optimisation for the UFV Várzea da Palma I, II and III photovoltaic complexes, a key 182MWp renewable energy project.

Integrating these new energy storage systems with solar generation will stabilise power output, reduce peak loads and strengthen grid resilience. This move aligns with Brazil’s booming renewable energy sector, in which solar and wind power now account for the majority of new capacity additions.

According to data from the Brazilian Solar Photovoltaic Association (ABSOLAR) and local media outlets, Brazil’s cumulative installed renewable energy capacity surpassed 55GW in 2024.
