200MW/400MWh! Revera Energy Advances UK BESS Expansion with Windyhill Project Financing

PVTIME – Revera Energy is accelerating the expansion of its battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio in the United Kingdom, following the financial close and notice to proceed for its Windyhill project. This milestone demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding its UK BESS portfolio, which is expected to reach 1,000MW once the current projects are complete.

Situated in Bearsden, approximately 10 km north-west of Glasgow, Scotland, the Windyhill BESS boasts a capacity of 200MW/400MWh. Construction will commence immediately, with commercial operations scheduled for the first quarter of 2028. Revera Energy will oversee construction and manage the development in the long term.

A suite of strategic partners has been secured to deliver the Windyhill project. Santander CIB has arranged non-recourse senior debt financing, and GE Vernova will supply battery systems and provide long-term technical services. G2 Mitie has been appointed as the balance-of-plant contractor and maintenance provider, while Danske Commodities will manage trading and optimisation, as well as providing a 10-year revenue floor covering the full project capacity.

In addition to the Windyhill development, Revera Energy holds a 800MW/1,600MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) pipeline. All projects in this pipeline have secured planning approvals, land rights, grid access and 15-year capacity market agreements. Construction of these developments will begin within the next 12 months.

In February 2026, Revera Energy secured an expanded $150 million credit facility to support its broader renewable energy ambitions. This financing will facilitate the development and construction of late-stage projects involving BESS, solar and green hydrogen assets in the UK and the National Energy Market in Australia.
