2.7GW! South Korea’s OCI Holding Commissions Silicon Wafer Plant in Vietnam

PVTIME – South Korea’s polysilicon sector leader, OCI Holding, has confirmed that its subsidiary, OCI ONE, has officially commenced operations at a 2.7GW silicon wafer factory in Vietnam.

According to a company spokesperson, the facility is currently in the initial phase of increasing production capacity. Production has begun, but the plant has not yet reached the shipping or delivery stage. Operations are steadily stabilising, and full-scale mass production is anticipated in the near future.

OCI ONE acquired the factory from the Chinese photovoltaic firm Boda New Energy in October 2025, securing a 65% equity stake in the facility through the transaction. The total investment in the plant amounts to 120 million US dollars (approximately 857 million RMB). OCI Holding’s share of the investment, in line with its equity stake, amounts to 78 million US dollars, equivalent to around 546 million RMB.

OCI Chairman Woo Hyun Lee noted that this strategic investment had further advanced the company’s work to build a supply chain that supports exports to the United States. All polysilicon feedstock used in the production processes at the plant will be supplied by OCI TerraSus, a wholly owned subsidiary of OCI Holding.
