PVTIME – On 6 January 2026, it was announced that Trina Solar, a leading Chinese solar module manufacturer, had signed two new agreements with ACWA Power for photovoltaic projects in Saudi Arabia. The combined 2.65GW deal covers the supply of modules for the 1.15GW Haden solar PV project and trackers for the 1.5GW Al Khushaybi PV project.

The Haden project, which is being built by China Energy International Group, is scheduled for completion by ACWA Power in July 2026, with grid connection planned for February 2027. Trina Solar has been supplying its bifacial Vertex N series modules, which have a power conversion efficiency of 23.3%, for the project since 2024. This initiative will contribute to ACWA Power’s growing domestic solar PV portfolio, following the developer’s launch of a 2.7GW project in Saudi Arabia last year, in which it holds a 50.1% stake.
For the Al Khushaybi project, Trina Solar will supply 900MW of 1P Vanguard trackers. This agreement is notable as it is the first tracker supply deal to meet Saudi Arabia’s ‘Made in Saudi’ regulations, which are part of the government’s ‘Vision 2030’ plan to boost tourism and diversify the national energy mix. The trackers will be produced at TrinaTracker’s Jeddah factory, which began commercial production in February last year, with an annual capacity of 3GW.
Mr Li, Trina Solar’s Head of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa Business, said that combining world-class solar technology with local manufacturing and on-site execution enables the company to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.
