PVTIME – Arctech Solar has secured a significant 2.3 GW overseas contract, forming a partnership with Shanghai Electric for the Sadawi solar project in Saudi Arabia. Together, they aim to accelerate Saudi Arabia’s energy transition.

Located in eastern Saudi Arabia, the project covers an area of around 40 square kilometres — equivalent to 5,700 standard football pitches. Following the Saudi PIF4-Haden project, this is Arctech’s second venture in the Middle East to exceed 2GW, further solidifying its position as the region’s leading solar tracking system provider.
The project will use Arctech’s SkyLine II trackers, which are built to withstand winds of up to 55 m/s and desert conditions. Custom solutions integrate high-efficiency bifacial modules and smart cleaning robots to increase efficiency and returns, while Arctech’s SCADA system enables smart operations and real-time monitoring to ensure stability throughout the project’s lifecycle.
Once complete, the project will generate over 6 billion kWh of electricity per year, enough to power over 700,000 households and reduce CO₂ emissions by around 3 million tonnes.
