1GW! India’s WorldOne Energies to Build Solar-Green Hydrogen Facility in Canada

PVTIME – On 4 July 2025, Indian solar firm WorldOne Energies announced plans to construct a 1GW integrated facility in Ontario, Canada. The facility will combine renewable energy generation and green hydrogen production. This project signifies the company’s expansion into North America, utilising its Indian-manufactured technology in conjunction with Canada’s clean energy infrastructure.

This development follows closed-door discussions between WorldOne’s co-founder and CEO, Mark B. Garvin, and Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, Maninder Sidhu. The talks focused on strengthening India–Canada trade ties through renewable energy innovation, and Ottawa noted that the project aligns with the goal of its 2050 Net-Zero Plan to establish “green hydrogen corridors”. Ontario’s abundant hydropower will complement WorldOne’s electrolysis technology.

Minister Sidhu framed the venture as a climate technology alliance between South and North America, with Canada offering policy support and research and development (R&D) backing to establish cost benchmarks for green hydrogen in the region.

WorldOne has proven expertise: in April 2025, the company launched a 1.2GW solar module production line in Gujarat, India, using n-type TOPCon technology to increase power output by 15% and reduce production times to 67% of industry averages. The Canadian facility will adopt this system, which was developed in India and has been enhanced with North American innovations.
