PVTIME – Indian renewable energy firm SAEL Industries has unveiled plans for a major solar manufacturing complex in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, located around 43 kilometres south of New Delhi. The facility will have the capacity to produce 5GW of solar cells and modules.

Backed by an investment of 82 billion Indian rupees ($954 million) via its subsidiary SAEL Solar P6 Private Limited, construction is set to begin later this year. Once operational, the hub will increase SAEL’s total solar manufacturing capacity to 8.5GW.
The plant will specialise in TOPCon solar cells and modules and adhere to India’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) policy, ensuring compliance with domestic quality and procurement standards.
Sukhbir Singh Awla, a director at SAEL Industries Limited, emphasised that this integrated facility will introduce state-of-the-art manufacturing to Uttar Pradesh and support India’s transition to clean energy. He also noted its alignment with the state’s solar policies and national initiatives such as ‘Prosperous India 2047’ and ‘Self-Reliant India’, which aim to strengthen domestic supply chains and reduce reliance on imported solar equipment.
Headquartered in New Delhi, SAEL operates as an independent power producer with over 6.7GW of solar assets in India, both operational and under development. The company currently holds 3.5GW of TOPCon module capacity, split between a 3.2GW site in Rajasthan and a 300MW plant in Punjab.
