1.2GW! Premier Energies Unveils TOPCon Solar Cell Facility in India

PVTIME – Premier Energies has announced the construction of a 1.2GW TOPCon solar cell production line in Telangana, India. This will increase the company’s total cell capacity from 2GW to 3.2GW. This forms part of the company’s strategy to establish a vertically integrated manufacturing chain spanning ingots, wafers, cells and modules.

Following the signing of a joint venture agreement in May with SAS (Semiconductor Auxiliary Materials), Premier will hold a 74% stake in Premier Energies GWC, which will produce solar wafers in India. This builds on the 1GW module factory launched by Premier Energies Global Environment, a subsidiary of Premier Energies, in Telangana’s EMC Maheshwaram zone last December.

This development is in line with India’s solar expansion initiative, which is being driven by the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and stricter localisation rules under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Manufacturing (ALMM) policies. TOPCon technology has emerged as the preferred choice for recent capacity upgrades in the sector, reflecting accelerating technical innovation and domestic manufacturing demands.
