Trina Solar N-type i-TOPCon Cell Hits 25.5% Efficiency

PVTIME – On March 11, Trina Solar’s State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology (SKL PVST) announced that its proprietary 210mm×210mm high-efficiency i-TOPCon solar cell has achieved the efficiency of 25.5%, setting a new record for industrial large-scale n-type monocrystalline silicon i-TOPCon cells. This is independently confirmed by a third party the National Institute of Metrology of China.

SKL PVST stated that the large-area 210mm high-efficiency n-type i-TOPCon cell reached an efficiency of 25.5% via adopting mass-production cell equipment on the 210mm large-area n-type Czochralski monocrystalline silicon substrate with high minority carrier lifetime. Meanwhile, the technical team overcame technical difficult issues of selective boron emitter, large-area tunneling silicon oxide and doped polysilicon preparation, and high-efficient hydrogen passivation.

This new record and relevant technology will be introduced to Trina Solar 210n-type TOPCon high-efficiency solar cell project with an annual output of 8GW in Suqian, and is expected to further boost the company in PV high-end market. SKL PVST is proudly to focus on cutting-edge technology R&D, and to apply innovative tech in mass production to keep Trina Solar high-efficiency product leading position in the world.
