LONGi Announces 20GW Annual Output Monocrystalline Wafer Construction Project in Chuxiong

CHANGCHUN, China, January. 3, 2019 /PVTIME/ — LONGi Solar, a leading global supplier of solar monocrystalline products, announced today it will invest 2 billion yuan (USD 286 million) to increase the company’s monocrystalline wafer production capacity in Chuxiong, Yunnan province by 20GW annually.

Construction of the 20GW plant is phase III of LONGi’s Chuxiong production project which dates back to December 2 of 2016 when it first signed an investment agreement with the Chuxiong Yixi Autonomous Prefecture People’s Government of Yunnan Province for the construction of a 10GW annual output project (phase I). Two years later, on April 15 of 2018, LONGi announced the construction of another 10GW annual output project (phase II).

Once completed, phase III will bring LONGi’s total production capacity in Chuxiong to 40GW annually.

According to the investment agreement signed this time, depending on market conditions, subsequent negotiations will be made on the construction of another 20GW project (phase IV) in due course, and a supplementary agreement will be signed separately.
