SPI, ESI, Smart Energy Week Canceled due to Hurricane Ida

The Smart Energy Week Team

Dear Smart Energy Community,

Like you, we are saddened by the devastation left behind in the wake of Hurricane Ida. Our thoughts go out to those on the Gulf Coast who are recovering in the aftermath. We are thankful for the continued and tireless efforts of the first responders on the ground.

We hoped to be able to host SPI, ESI, and Smart Energy Week this year and provide you with a meeting place to collaborate on the big issues facing the clean energy industry. We know what this event means to you—for large global companies and community-serving small businesses alike—it was the reunion the industry needed to get back to conducting business face-to-face.

Unfortunately, in light of Hurricane Ida, SPI, ESI, and Smart Energy Week can no longer proceed in New Orleans in-person and will be canceled.

While we have received information that our colleagues in New Orleans are safe, the city was subjected to severe damage, which will take weeks—if not longer—to restore. Louisiana and the City of New Orleans have both been declared a federal disaster area due to Hurricane Ida. To help the Gulf Coast recover and rebuild, we hope you will join SEIA, SEPA, SETS, and the Smart Energy Week community in supporting some of the local organizations

We know you have questions, and we are working as quickly as possible to share more information. Attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and speakers will receive follow-up communication. Here are a few details to consider:

Housing

If you booked hotel reservations through our website, our official housing company, Orchid.events will cancel your hotel reservation at no charge and send you confirmation to the email address on file.

If you have booked hotel reservations through another source, you will need to work directly with the booking entity used to request a cancellation.

Travel

As a reminder, if you booked a flight, train, or other travel accommodations for this event, please cancel immediately.

Registration

Current, paid registrants will receive an email next week with instructions.

Due to the current circumstances and the high volume of communications as we navigate through this extraordinary event, individual responses will be delayed. We will provide further instructions early next week that will address your questions. We appreciate your patience. Please wait for us to reach out with next steps.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
