LONGi Supplies 93 MW of HI-MO4 Modules to China Huaneng Group’s “Top Runner” Base in Jilin Province

PVTIME – The 100MW Baicheng “Top Runner” project, developed by the Jilin Branch of the China Huaneng Group, has now been fully launched. As the core module supplier for the project, LONGi has supplied 93MW of its highly efficient and reliable Hi-MO4 high-power modules. Higher quality and higher yield will help the project continue to be a  “Top Runner”  in the future, and the cooperation between Huaneng and LONGi will also set a  “Top Runner”  benchmark for the construction of power stations in regions with high latitude and cold climates like Northeast China.

The Baicheng project is located on saline-alkali land in Tongyu County, with an average annual power generation time of 1600H~1700H. Although the terrain is flat, there are occasional sandstorms and extremely low temperatures, leading to high requirements of modules in terms of low temperature resistance and wind load. In order to avoid the potential risks that may occur during project operation, Huaneng and the Zhongshui Northeast Exploration Design & Research Institute (NIDR), the general contractor, invested significant time and effort in the selection of modules. LONGi provided full support during the project planning phase, assisting NIDR to set up a 1~2MW empirical power station, using solid data to help the customer reach an informed decision.

After exhaustive calculation and verification, LONGi’s bifacial 72-cell Hi-MO4 module stood out. Using a 405W monocrystalline power plant system for comparison purposes, the BOS cost with Hi-MO4 bifacial modules is reduced by more than 5 cents per watt, bringing higher value to customers.

A spokesman from Huaneng’s Jilin Branch said: “LONGi has an industry-leading product technology level and, as a reliable and professional partner, has provided full support throughout the project. The Hi-MO4 module, based on the 166mm wafer, has obvious advantages including lower degradation and higher energy yield, and also performs well in terms of BOS savings. We believe that Hi-MO4 will help our Baicheng ‘Top Runner’ project break through new thresholds and ‘run’ to a new level.”

The cooperation between LONGi and Huaneng began with the Jingbian Longzhou wind-solar complementary project in 2015. Since then, the two parties have each maximized use of their respective advantages and made great strides in the field of renewable energy development and construction. LONGi has participated in the construction of Huaneng’s first monocrystalline photovoltaic power station, first 100 MW photovoltaic poverty alleviation power station, and first grid-connected national photovoltaic  “Top Runner” base project, establishing itself as a key partner for Huaneng in the new energy field.
