Intersolar Europe 2020 Cancelled

PVTIME – As the COVID-19 situation intensifies, Solar Promotion GmbH and FWTM GmbH have announced the cancellation of Intersolar Europe along with The smarter E Europe’s three other parallel energy trade fairs Power2Drive Europe, EES Europe, and EM-Power.

This decision was made in close cooperation with the registered exhibitors and the international industry association. “On account of the major impact anticipated across all industries and the uncertainties in planning even for the second half of the year, we have decided to cancel the 2020 event and wait until June 2021 to hold it again,” the two organizing companies stated in a communication sent to the event’s main exhibitors.

“The health of exhibitors, visitors, employees and the general public is our top priority. The smarter E Europe is a major international event with around 1,400 exhibitors from 45 countries and 50,000 visitors from over 160 countries,” explained Daniel Strowitzki, Managing Director of co-organizer FWTM. “A trouble-free preparation as well as realization of an internationally oriented trade fair is not possible under the current framework conditions. It was important to us that all those involved had planning security at an early stage.”

The cancellation of smarter E Europe should not come as a surprise to those that have been paying close attention to the COVID-19 crisis as many other events have already been postponed or cancelled. Still, as Europe’s largest solar trade exhibition and indispensable opportunity for industry professionals and enterprises to showcase and network, the news comes as another blow to the industry as a whole.
